Definition:      
Outpatient Therapist, under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Director or Lead Therapist, is responsible for coordination of therapeutic services to clients enrolled in Our agency.  Outpatient Therapist is responsible for all functions related to managing, supporting, and facilitating appropriate services to meet the needs of clients and families.

Duties/Responsibilities          
  • Spends approximately 85% or more of time providing strategic individual, group, and family therapy
  • Conducts assessments to determine the appropriate treatment needs of the consumer and evaluates and assesses ongoing treatment needs
  • Develops and maintains close working relationship with clients, families, and other community professionals to help meet the consumer’s needs
  • Participates/leads meetings with other professionals as requested or needed
  • Develops, coordinates, and facilitates treatment planning to include formulation, reviews, and re-formulations as directed
  • Develops and implements crisis stabilization plan and crisis interventions
  • Educate and assist parents with the skills to effectively manage the behavior of the consumer and understand diagnosis, treatment, and medication issues
  • Maintains accurate, complete clinical documentation of all services, interventions, and consumer related activities
  • Provides quality assurance of clinical documentation and chart auditing for compliance purposes
  • Submits timely documentation of services rendered
  • Maintains strict adherence to insurance guidelines
  • Participates in all assigned staff and supervisory meetings as well as in service trainings and staff development activities
  • Other duties as they relate to the agency and your job function



Knowledge Of:
  • Child and adolescent development/needs/behavior
  • Treatment Plan Implementation, Reviewing, and Updating
  • Strategic Family, Individual, and Group Therapy
  • Behavior Plans, Contracts, and other therapeutic intervention for individuals with mental health or substance abuse diagnosis

Skills In:
  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with consumer, their, families, staff and community agencies

Minimum Qualifications:
A graduate of an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education or related field and has one year of verified, full-time, post-graduate accumulated MH/DD/SA experience providing direct service to the population served and meets compliance with all state or contractual requirements to provide therapeutic services.  North Carolina State board licensure (LCMHC, LCSW, LMFT, LCAS) required.
